Anne Frank Youth Network (AFYN), organized as an extension to the Anne Frank Peer Docent Training Program run by the Anne Frank Center in Columbia, South Carolina, recently selected juniors Lexann Maldonado, Ella Michalopoulos and Ella Galligher to participate in the 2026 AFYN conference scheduled from July 13-17 in Chicago this year. This year’s conference theme, Memory and Meaning: Turning Memory Into Action, invites members to explore how historical memory shapes our identities, responsibilities, and choices today. Throughout the week, participants will engage in interactive workshops, dialogue, and leadership experiences that challenge them to reflect deeply on the past and transform that understanding into meaningful action within their own communities. Every AFYN journey starts with participation and training in a traveling Anne Frank exhibition, held in January this year on Cross Schools campus. Around the world, young people are trained to become peer guides in their communities with currently 2082 members across 22 countries.
