Cross US Journalism students visited 221B Studios to work with owner Matt Holmes, Gretchen’s dad, on new podcasting ideas. Jillian Newcaster, Lex Maldonado and Lucia Carbone ordered and tasted a series of coffee drinks from The Grind (which houses studio 221B) and enjoyed them in the coffee shop’s environment. Says Lex, “my immediate reaction is that I prefer it to Starbucks as the overall chill vibe creates a relaxing atmosphere and the coffee was surprisingly delicious.” Members of the class are planning a series of drop ins at local businesses as “teens with spending power”. The team will be looking at other places for teens to go and will make further recommendations as summer approaches.
