This year Payton Ward has transferred to the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She’s studying English with a minor in Philosophy and is just getting settled but plans to rush for a pre-law fraternity and mock trial club. Payton spent her freshman year at the College of Charleston where she started her major in English. On campus life involved her as a member of “Not Just Another Club” which is a club that is partnered with the Charleston LIFE Program. The LIFE program is an inclusive certificate program that serves college students with minor mental and physical disabilities. Payton served as a mentor for a member of the LIFE program and volunteered several hours a week throughout the school year. Payton also volunteered as a Resource Staff member for the YMCA Youth in Government Program and was chosen as a Youth in Government Alumni. She worked to contribute to the conference’s event planning, management, and statistics behind the scenes.
